OLEA GABON, PARTNER OF THE PORT-GENTIL 10KM RACE

OLEA Gabon was one of the partners of the 5th edition of the Port-Gentil 10km which took place on April 8, 2023. Clément Chadeau, Managing Director of OLEA Gabon tells us about OLEA Gabon's involvement in this event.

What is the Port-Gentil 10km?

As its name implies, this is a ten-kilometer race held every year in Port Gentil. This year, the 5th edition was jointly launched by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba, and Mr. François Perrodo, Chairman of the Perenco Group, the race's main and historic sponsor. The POG 10km calls itself "the fastest in Africa", as it brings together some of the world's top professionals, including Sir Mo Farah, four-time Olympic track and field champion, who was finalizing his training on the continent in preparation for the forthcoming London Marathon. Needless to say, the level of competition was very high for the OLEA team who took part in the race! Finally, in recognition of its excellent organization, the race was awarded the Gold Race label by World Athletics for the first time.

How and why did you become a sponsor of this event?

We were asked by the Perenco Group in Gabon, of which we are also the broker, to replace the event's previous partner and become the official broker for the POG 10 km. After starting a partnership with the National Football League as an official broker, it seemed natural to us to support this event as a broker for athletes and sport!

What role did OLEA Gabon play at this event?

As official broker, OLEA Gabon provided the race organization with civil liability insurance for the event, among other contributions. This was a major commitment, because with an elite group (the world's best runners) and 13,000 runners taking part in all the competitions, the challenge was as much sporting as it was to insure the event.

A final word?

In addition to the Perenco Group, which enabled us to take part in this great event, we'd like to thank the Everest Media organization for its immense professionalism and the quality of the time we spent together. We look forward to seeing you at the Run in Masuku (10 km in Franceville) and the Gabon Marathon!

OLEA GHANA AND THE JEAD FOUNDATION

On Monday, February 20, 2023, as part of the company's corporate social responsibility, the ladies of OLEA Ghana, led by Gladys Esi Kumi, Technical Manager, made a presentation to the founder of JEAD Foundation, Mrs Judith Ellen Awuah-Darko, in the presence of her board of directors.

JEAD Foundation is an NGO whose mission is to support rural women in need to cope with the challenges posed by breast cancer. The NGO regularly visits rural communities to provide breast cancer education, screening, and medical support to women with breast cancer.

OLEA shares this vision and believes that society has much to do to help women meet these challenges. After commending the members of the NGO for the good use of the funds received and the work done, OLEA Ghana pledged to make annual donations to the NGO to enable it to do more for women in disadvantaged communities in Ghana.

The ceremony was also an opportunity for the founder of the NGO to express her deep gratitude to OLEA Ghana for its support and the continuation of the 3-year-old partnership.

She said she was currently gathering resources to build a breast cancer clinic in one of the rural communities. This initiative has become necessary because people with the disease often feel uncomfortable travelling to hospitals in Accra for treatment. They prefer to be treated in their villages. She therefore appealed to OLEA Ghana and the entire OLEA Group to also support the clinic project.
